What is TwinMe? This is a new application (free to download) that has been created by a UK based company named ParetoLogic. The application uses your android device's GPS chip to track your exact location, which it then uses to allow you to connect to the internet via wifi or Bluetooth, upload your files to it and do all sorts of other things.
One of the coolest features of TwinMe is its "twin" ability. As soon as you put in a location you want to track you are given two choices; do you want to use the public Google map by default, which gives you limited information; or do you want to use their private selection of city street maps which give you more detailed information but are only available for a fee. To access these city maps you have to buy the "My Tracks" option, which costs $2.99. You can use this application to basically track where anything goes with ease and comfort.
The application makes uploading any sort of file a breeze with it's simple drag and drop interface. Once uploaded to your mobile device, you can then use Google Maps to find your location. You can also use any of the many other location-based services such as: Oodle, Mapquest and Google Earth to locate yourself from anywhere in the world using a compatible smartphone. This software isn't free - in fact it costs just less than a week's worth of petrol to download. It's a shame that Google doesn't provide a free version of its fantastic mapping software, but luckily twinme comes with a money back guarantee so that if you're not happy with it you can always get your money back.
